Farmers attending this year’s UK Dairy Expo in Carlisle on the 11th March are invited to a free trial of farm management app, Herdwatch, which is fully compliant with quality assurance schemes and linked direct to BCMS for convenience and significant time savings.
Meet James, Eoin and Kenny from the Herdwatch Team on Stand Number 44
The app, which was awarded the Prince Philip Award at the 2016 Livestock Event and
the Innovation Merit Certificate at the 2016 LAMMA Show, is a comprehensive herd management tool, that allows farm events to be entered throughout the day from your phone or tablet without internet connectivity. It is currently used by over 5,500 farmers in Ireland and a rapidly growing number in the UK.
Approved by Farmers
Stephen Hastwell is a dairy farmer from Kaber, Kirkby Stephen in Cumbria, and has recently subscribed to Herdwatch. “I was on the lookout for something that would be easy to use and that would alleviate my paperwork burden. I had never even downloaded an app before but I found the month’s free trial an ideal way to make the plunge.”
“I love the fact it’s fully mobile and it allows me to record events on the farm as they happen,” he explains. “For example, if I treat an animal, I can record that straight onto my phone. That is automatically put into a report that is sufficient for my farm audits. I do not need to put pen to paper; it’s incredibly handy and saves me a lot of time.”
Easy to Use
James Greevy, Herdwatch Business and Product Development Manager adds, “I believe the success of this system is in its simplicity. It’s easy to use, practical and yet provides comprehensive records that are fully compliant with quality assurance schemes, including Red Tractor.
“It’s incredibly quick to use and is designed to work off line. Daily tasks such as calf registration and cattle movements take seconds, and can save up to 2 hours every week from reduced paperwork.
“We have found the success of Herdwatch has been largely through farmer recommendations, and we are already seeing a similar pattern in the UK, which is great.
Try it for Free at the UK Dairy Expo
“We encourage farmers to take advantage of our 30-day free trial and will be giving live demonstrations on our screen at the Dairy Expo. Records are automatically transferred from BCMS, so set up is simple and quick,” James adds.
Herdwatch is also designed for beef and sheep enterprises, and well as arable land, giving farmers the significant advantage of having all farm data is one place and easily accessible.
